World Turtle Day in Tenerife

Today, June 16th, we celebrate World Turtle Day, a fundamental event to remind us how precious and vulnerable these ancient creatures are.

During our kayak excursions in Tenerife's marine reserve, it is always a thrill to encounter them. Seeing these creatures swimming free in their natural habitat is a privilege, but also a call to responsibility: protecting sea turtles means protecting the entire oceanic ecosystem.

Why do turtles need protection?

Sea turtles face numerous threats, many of which are caused by humans:

These factors endanger the survival of all 7 existing species of marine turtles, 6 of which are already considered at risk according to the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature).

What can we do, even on vacation?

Every gesture counts, especially when you are in direct contact with nature. During our kayak excursions in Tenerife, we commit ourselves every day to:

• Don't get too close to the animals
• Never touch them
• Collect any floating waste
• Educate participants to respect the marine environment

We also invite our guests to follow a few simple rules: observe in silence, keep your distance, and take away only memories – no shells, no sand, and certainly no intrusive selfies.

An encounter that changes your point of view

Anyone who has already taken a tour with Easy Kayak Tenerife knows it: meeting a turtle in the wild is a breath-taking experience. You don't need to touch it to feel part of the sea. Just stop and look at it for a few seconds.

It is in those moments that deep respect for the environment is born.
